Jimi Hendrix Live in Stockholm 1970

This live recording was made 19 days before Hendrix's tragic death in London on 18th September, 1970, at age 27.

This performance was at Dans-in, Stora Scenen, Gröna Lund (main stage, Green Grove amusement park) Tivoli Garden, Stockholm, Sweden on 31st August 1970.

The video was shot by Australian John Kirk (later BUSH VIDEO) using an early release of the Sony half-inch, reel-to-reel "portapak" (Sony CV format).

The restoration is poor quality due to deterioration of the original tape over time, although it is still "watchable" and importantly the sound is reasonable.....

Another version with better sound....

John Kirk, together with a colleague, Steve Herman, were in Stockholm helping with an exhibition at the Moderna Museet (Museum of Modern Art).

The exhibition was about the work of TVX in London and was called "TVX - Folkets Television" (TVX - Community Television).

The TVX exhibition ran from 16th to 30th August 1970.

When Hendrix arrived in Stockholm, the museum asked John Kirk to record some of the event. They loaned him a video portapak (with just one 20-minute tape).

The video was shot on a first-generation portapak known as the Sony "Video Rover" or the Sony model DV-2400.
